Meet Dr. Robert Cutchen

In 2009, Dr. Cutchen founded Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute, a clinic dedicated solely to the diagnosis and treatment of venous disease. His goal was to provide the most advanced diagnostic and treatment options all in the comfort of his office without the need for hospitalization. Topical Creams and Oral Medications will Not Cure Varicose Veins and Spider Veins

Vein disorders are complex and run deep – there is much more than meets the eye. And, patient treatment is never a one-size-fits-all approach, as each patient’s vein disease is different from the next. A patient who does not have big, bulging veins may need an endovenous laser ablation only. Another vein patient may need a laser ablation, followed by micro-incisional ambulatory phlebectomy (micro-incisions to remove the actual bulging veins), and yet another patient may need the addition of endovenous chemical ablation (injections) to close feeder veins.

*Individual results may vary.

The one thing that no vein patient needs is a topical cream or oral medication in the hopes of curing their vein disease. Just search “how to get rid of varicose veins” on a search engine, and you will see many results advertising “natural remedies” for “curing” varicose veins, such as oral pills, ointments, vitamin E, etc. Although some of these may assist in reducing inflammation or other symptoms, vein disease MUST be treated medically in order to cure it, and prevent it from progressing.

Oral Medications & Topical Creams Only Treat Symptoms

These treatments you can buy online or at your local pharmacy may help minimize or mask symptoms, but they will never treat the underlying issue. You may experience a temporary relief of pain, itching, feeling of heaviness, etc., but no more, and it’s only temporary. The moment you stop using these over-the-counter treatments is the moment your symptoms will return.

Proper Diagnosis Is the Key in Treating Vein Disease

A proper diagnosis conducted by a Registered Vascular Technician (RVT) at a dedicated vein treatment center in Albuquerque is key to determining your individual vein treatment plan. Upon your initial visual exam, the doctor can determine if your veins are symptomatic, and if so, will recommend a venous duplex ultrasound to determine the presence of venous reflux (the backwards flow of blood in your veins). An individualized vein treatment plan can be formulated upon completion of this in-office, simple testing.
