Laser Tattoo Removal

If you love your tattoo, then we love it, too! But we see many patients who wish to erase the past—or just make room for something new. If you are one of the thousands of adults who feel they have grown beyond a particular tattoo, you deserve your tattoo removal process to be as smooth and effective as possible. Using the ClearLift ND:Yag laser, Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute offers state-of-the-art tattoo removal for even the toughest tattoos to remove—those with dark and multicolored ink.

Alma Lasers developed the ClearLift laser, which has become one of the industry’s most trusted laser tattoo removal systems. The state-of-the-art Q-switched ND: Yag laser minimizes the risks of pigmentation concerns and scarring compared to previous generation lasers, which were often less effective at dealing with darker and multi-color tattoos. Additionally, these lasers lacked the precision needed to limit risks of permanent damage to the skin. Fortunately, ClearLift provides a safe and effective tattoo removal system with only the slightest risk of skin damage.

ClearLift provides us with a safe and effective tattoo removal system with minimal risk of skin damage. Successful multi-color tattoo removal requires a high-powered laser that can deliver enough energy within the absorption spectrum of a wide range of colors. The ClearLift is a high-powered Q-switched laser that can operate two different wavelengths, which are effective on dark and bright colors alike. The 1064nm wavelength is ideal for treating darker ink colors (black, blue, and green), while the second wavelength – the 532nm – is effective for brighter ink colors (red, orange, and yellow). This treatment works by using a high-powered, short-pulsed beam of light delivered at exact wavelengths to the skin. The laser’s high-intensity light beams create a photoacoustic shock that breaks up the ink particles in the tattoo without causing thermal damage. In time, the body’s lymphatic system disposes of the ink fragments. This natural healing process causes the tattoo to fade with minimal risk of scarring or discoloration.

If that ink you thought you’d love for a lifetime has become a source of annoyance, embarrassment, or discomfort, then you’re a candidate for laser tattoo removal. The ClearLift tattoo removal system not only works on tattoos of all colors but also on most skin types. Just as every patient is different, so is every tattoo. During your complimentary consultation, you’ll receive a comprehensive treatment plan so you’ll know what to expect from your experience.

A few variables affect the success of your tattoo removal:

  • The condition of your skin surrounding the tattoo
  • The size, color, and depth of your tattoo’s ink
  • The tattoo’s age and the quality of the ink, and the amount of ink used

You may feel some soreness or sensitivity in the area following treatment. You should still be able to resume your normal routine after your session.

ClearLift requires fewer sessions to remove your tattoo, so you experience less discomfort and save money along the way. Generally, after 6 to 10 sessions scheduled eight weeks apart, the results reveal clear, ink-free skin with minimal risk of scarring or hypo-pigmentation. Extra sessions will likely be necessary to diminish more complicated, larger designs. It takes a few weeks for your body to absorb and filter out the shattered ink particles, so it usually requires time to see visible changes to the tattoo after your sessions. Smaller tattoos may take as little as 5-10 minutes per appointment, while larger images may require 30 minutes or more.
