Unwanted Hair

Many people have unwanted hair, also known as hirsutism. Whether you shave it, wax it, or hide it under clothing, unwanted hair costs you time, money, and self-esteem.

Most of us feel trapped in the routine of the body or facial hair removal. Over time, the cost of razors or waxing can add up, and many hours of time are wasted on this task. With laser hair removal, that unwanted hair can disappear. Your shaving and waxing days can be over

Am I a Good Candidate for Hair Removal?

What Results Can I Expect?

We grow hair everywhere on our body surface except the palms of our hands and the soles of our feet. Hair becomes a problem when it grows darker, longer, or thicker than we want it to. This can happen on the face, on the arms, or almost anywhere.

Many people make a routine of removing facial, leg, and armpit hair to keep these areas smooth and maintain a desired look. Others remove hair on their arms, chest, back, or abdomen. Wherever your problem hair grows, laser hair removal can get rid of it.

Hair growth is directed by heredity and hormones. Most people will inherit their pattern of hair growth from their parents. The male hormone testosterone causes more hair growth on areas like the face and chest, and elevated levels in women can also cause excess hair growth. Hirsutism, or excessive hair growth, is strongly genetic.

At Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute, we use the Harmony® XL Pro system. With our Super Hair Removal treatment, this laser heats up the hair follicles where the hair grows. By targeting the pigments in the hair follicles, the laser can ignore the skin and other tissues.

This form of laser hair removal requires no numbing and feels more comfortable than similar procedures. It features a unique cooling system to prevent the skin from feeling the heat from the laser.

You will need about six to eight treatments to fully remove the hair. Hair grows and rests in cycles, and the laser does not affect resting hair follicles. With each treatment, untreated hair will enter the growing cycle so the follicle can be removed.

Almost anyone with hirsutism or unwanted hair is a good candidate for this procedure. Hair can be removed from almost every part of the body, including the face, legs, arms, chest, and bikini line. Those with white or very pale hair should consult with their doctor at Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute to find out if their hair has enough pigment for treatment.

You can expect that after each treatment, you will see less hair regrowth. After six to eight sessions, you should see little to no hair growth. This procedure gives lasting results since the damaged hair follicles will not grow back.

As a result, you can expect smooth, hair-free skin in the treated areas. You will not need to worry about waxing, shaving, or plucking hairs. You can now enjoy the time you used to spend on hair removal.
