Visible facial veins can make you feel self-conscious. While spider veins can appear in many places, those on the face often cause the most frustration. Facial vein treatment targets and eliminates these veins for clear skin. Dr. Cutchen and his team offer the most advanced facial vein treatments.

What Causes Facial Veins?

Facial spider veins have many causes. They occur when veins under the skin become stretched, allowing the pigments in the blood to show through the skin. They usually look like threads, webs, or branches. While they often appear around the nose, they may occur anywhere on the face. Factors like genetics, hormones, and medical conditions can contribute to their development.

Restoring your brighter, smoother skin can be easier than you think. Laser skin resurfacing improves texture and tone with minimal downtime. It triggers your skin’s healing processes to bring healthy new skin cells to the surface while promoting collagen production.

What is Opus™ Plasma Laser Skin Resurfacing?

At Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute, we offer Opus™ Plasma skin resurfacing. This system can provide the powerful skin rejuvenation of a CO2 laser but without the recovery time. It creates tiny areas of damage on the skin’s surface, triggering cells to increase collagen production and removing old layers of skin to reveal a brighter new one.

Have you noticed veins on your legs becoming raised, discolored, and more noticeable? These varicose veins occur because blood has backed up and stretched them. Dr. Cutchen and his team treat bothersome varicose veins and the underlying medical conditions that can cause them.

What are Varicose Veins?

Varicose veins are usually found in the legs. They occur when blood flow through the leg veins slows down and backs up, forcing blood to pool and stretch the vein walls. Blood flowing through the leg veins travels against gravity, assisted by one-way valves that prevent backflow. These valves can weaken, keeping blood from moving out of your legs effectively and leading to varicose veins. This condition is called chronic venous insufficiency

Do you have leg veins that bother you? Dr. Cutchen at Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute offers treatment options for clear, smooth skin. As a vein specialist, he can also address underlying problems that cause leg veins, improving the circulation in your legs.

What Causes Visible Leg Veins?

Visible leg veins occur when the walls of these veins stretch as blood pools inside them. This backup of blood occurs when the deep veins in the legs lose their ability to keep blood flowing efficiently back to the heart. Smaller veins become visible on the surface when this circulation problem causes them to enlarge and develop a twisted or rope-like appearance.

Factors contributing to leg vein problems include genetics, hormones, pregnancy, overall health, and standing or sitting for long periods.

Your legs contain some of your body’s biggest veins, and they must work against gravity to return blood to the heart. When deep vein thrombosis occurs in these veins, they require treatment to avoid complications. Fortunately, a customized treatment plan can improve symptoms and protect your health.

What is Deep Vein Thrombosis?

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a condition that occurs in the deep veins of the legs. If blood flow slows through these veins, blood can form clots. Your blood naturally clots in response to injuries, but clots inside your veins can block blood flow. Pieces of this clot can break off and become trapped in the veins to the lungs, a life-threatening situation.

DVT may cause leg cramps or pain but often has few or no symptoms. Dr. Robert Cutchen at Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute often diagnoses the condition with a venous duplex ultrasound that lets him visualize flow through the veins.

While spider veins do not usually represent a health problem, they can cause you to feel self-conscious about your appearance. Sclerotherapy is considered the “gold standard” of spider vein treatments. This effective method collapses the problem veins to make them disappear.

What are Spider Veins?

Spider veins are small, dilated blood vessels near the skin’s surface. They typically look red or blue and have a spider web-like appearance, hence their name. Spider veins are a common condition, affecting up to 50% of women and 40% of men. Spider veins can occur anywhere on the body but are most commonly found on the legs and face. While not harmful, they are a cosmetic concern for many people.

Shaving, waxing, and threading are just a few ways people struggle with unwanted facial or body hair. Stop wasting time and money on these inefficient methods and consider laser hair removal. This treatment removes hair at the root and prevents it from growing back for long-lasting smooth skin.

What is Laser Hair Removal Treatment?

Laser hair removal is a treatment that uses a laser to remove unwanted hair. It targets hair follicles, which absorb the laser energy and stop growing hair.  Laser hair removal can treat hair on various parts of the body, including the face, arms, legs, underarms, bikini line, and back. It offers a long-term option for people tired of shaving, waxing, or plucking.

As we age, our skin produces less vital proteins that give it support and flexibility. Sagging skin develops when the skin loses its elasticity and structure. As a result, it cannot rebound to its youthful position after stretching. At Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute, we offer non-surgical skin tightening to undo the effects of aging.

What Causes Sagging Skin?

Sagging skin is caused by various factors, including aging, weight loss, and genetics. As we age, the production of collagen and elastin, the proteins that give our skin its elasticity, decreases. This can lead to loose, saggy skin. Rapid weight loss can also cause sagging skin because the skin loses its elasticity and is unable to shrink back to its original shape. Sun damage and smoking can also contribute to the breakdown of collagen and elastin, leading to sagging skin.

Varicose Veins

For many people, varicose veins are asymptomatic, even if they have an unsightly appearance. Others, especially those with a more advanced venous issue, may experience pain and related side effects in the legs with varicose veins, as circulation issues deep in the leg veins can lead to aching, heaviness, and other symptoms. Fortunately, advanced treatment methods can provide relief with little to no discomfort or recovery time.

What are Varicose Veins?

Varicose veins may look blue, red, or purple, and they often have a raised, twisted appearance. The Great Saphenous Vein (GSV), one of the longest veins in the human body, carries blood from the legs back to the heart, moving it against gravity. If the one-way valves in this vein weaken, blood can pool and back up into feeder veins that then appear on the surface. Varicose veins and leg pain are both symptoms of this underlying venous problem.
