Laser Tattoo Removal
If you love your tattoo, then we love it, too! But we see many patients who wish to erase the past – or just make room for something new. If you are one of the thousands of adults who feel they have grown beyond a particular tattoo, you deserve your tattoo removal process to be as smooth and effective as possible. Using the ClearLift ND:Yag laser, Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute offers state-of-the-art tattoo removal for even the toughest of tattoos to remove – those with dark and multicolored ink.
The ClearLift laser was developed by industry leader Alma Lasers and is trusted by the leading physicians in the industry. The state-of-the-art Q-switched ND: Yag laser minimizes the risks of scarring or loss of skin color (hypopigmentation). Previous laser tattoo removal systems were often less effective at dealing with darker and multi-color tattoos. Additionally, these lasers lacked the precision needed to limit risks of permanent damage to the skin. Fortunately, ClearLift provides us with a safe and effective tattoo removal system with the smallest risk of skin damage.
How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?
ClearLift provides us with a safe and effective tattoo removal system with the smallest risk of skin damage. Successful multi-color tattoo removal requires a high-powered laser that can deliver enough energy within the absorption spectrum of a wide range of colors. The ClearLift is a high-powered Q-switched laser that can operate two different wavelengths to be effective with both darker colors and brighter colors, such as red and orange. The 1064nm wavelength is ideal for treating darker ink colors (black, blue, and green), while the second wavelength – the 532nm – is effective for brighter ink colors (red, orange, and yellow). This treatment works by using a high-powered, short-pulsed beam of light, which is delivered at highly precise wavelengths to the dermis. The laser’s high-intensity light beams create a photoacoustic shock that breaks up the ink particles in the tattoo without causing thermal damage. In time, the body’s lymphatic system disposes of the ink fragments. This natural healing process causes the tattoo to fade with minimal risk of scarring or discoloration. It specifically targets dark ink colors, such as blue, green, and black, while also honing in on bright inks, like reds, oranges, and yellows.
Am I a Candidate for Laser Tattoo Removal?
Anyone with an unwanted tattoo is a potential candidate for laser tattoo removal. The ClearLift tattoo removal system not only works on tattoos of all colors, but also works on most skin types. Just as every patient is different, so is every tattoo, which is why, during your complimentary consultation, you’ll receive a comprehensive treatment plan so you’ll know what to expect from your experience. Factors that determine the speed and success of laser tattoo removal include:
- Age, quality, density, and depth of the tattoo’s ink
- Overall skin condition and tone of the tattoo area
- Size, colors, and location of the tattoo
- The rate your body breaks down and filters out the ink
What Results Will I See?
ClearLift allows you get your tattoos removed with fewer treatments, saving you money and reducing your discomfort and inconvenience. The results after, generally, 6 to 10 sessions, 8 weeks apart, reveal clear, ink-free skin with minimal risk of scarring or hypo-pigmentation. Extra sessions will likely be necessary to eliminate more complicated, larger designs. In the few weeks following your tattoo removal session, the body filters out the treated ink particles, so it usually requires time to see visible changes to the tattoo after your treatments. Depending on the size of your tattoo, treatments can be as quick as 5-10 minutes, or up to 30 minutes for larger images.
