I will be appearing on Good Day New Mexico (KOB-TV) as a guest on March 22nd at 11am with Mary Ann Orate.  As a vein specialist, I will be discussing venous disease, causes, symptoms and treatments. If you are thinking about getting your veins treated, it may be beneficial to tune in and find out more.

Unfortunately, venous leg ulcers are not uncommon.  This can range from open wounds to weeping broken skin.  This results from long term high pressure in varicose veins.  Normal veins carry the blood in an upward direction toward the heart.  Varicose veins have broken vein valves, therefore the blood is pulled downward by gravity.  This increases the pressure in those veins.  That pressure then get transmitted to the skin which leads to discoloration and culminates in an ulcer.  For the past six months i have been caring for a patient who developed a small sore on her calf after minor trauma.  That sore then spread and much of her calf was denuded of skin and wept clear fluid.  She endured several rounds of antibiotics due to infection.  Below is her leg prior to any intervention.

Over the past few months I’ve had the chance to meet a great guy who for many years has suffered from symptoms of heaviness, burning, and aching in his legs associated with huge bulging veins.

This is what he looked like before any treatments:

Well, we performed endovenous laser ablation of his right great saphenous vein as well as his left anterior accessory saphenous vein and removed the bulging veins on both legs via ambulatory phlebectomy and ended up with some great results.  The following pictures show his legs at just 6 weeks after treatment.  Amazing!

He is reporting that his legs feel significantly better.  The fact that they look so great is just a bonus.

Wow! It’s great to have our new website up and running.  Time has flown by since we opened our new office earlier this year and things are going great.  We’ve been fortunate to meet a lot of new patients and treat a lot of varicose and spider veins.  We’re proud that we are able to quickly schedule patients and get them evaluated and treated in a short period of time to bring them relief as soon as possible.  Our new office space is beautiful and gives us the room we need to utilize the most advanced technologies in vein treatment. We’re fortunate to have a great staff as well.
