An innovative, first-of-its-kind radiofrequency skin resurfacing technology is now available in New Mexico at Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute! You’re probably familiar with micro-needling to improve the skin’s surface, but Opus™ Plasma Skin Resurfacing takes micro-needling to the next level, combining radiofrequency energy and fractional plasma to improve the skin’s tone and texture with 15-minute treatments that require only minimal downtime. Opus™ Plasma is built upon the popular and widely accepted science of fractional resurfacing. With Opus™ Plasma, you can enjoy the benefits of fractional skin resurfacing with just a fraction of the downtime associated with traditional micro-needling.
How Does Opus™ Plasma Work?
RF micro-needling, or radiofrequency micro-needling, is the next generation of fractional skin resurfacing that creates a pattern of tiny micro-injuries to a fraction of the skin while leaving the surrounding tissue undamaged. These micro-abrasions stimulate a natural healing response, leading the skin to repair itself and produce new collagen and elastin, the building blocks of smooth, youthful-looking skin, resulting in noticeable improvements in texture, tone, and pigmentation.
This is a 15-minute outpatient treatment that is performed after our aesthetic nurse cleanses your skin and applies a topical anesthetic. Depending on the condition of your skin, the degree of discomfort may vary, but settings can be adjusted to minimize discomfort so that you can have the most comfortable experience. Treatment is administered via a rolling handpiece for areas such as the face, neck, belly, flanks, and more. A smaller stamp can be used around sensitive areas such as crow’s feet, lip lines, and other more pronounced wrinkles. Unlike traditional laser-based skin resurfacing technologies, Opus™ Plasma precisely controls the time that the RF energy makes contact with the skin, minimizing the inflammation that typically contributes to longer recovery times.
