Spider Veins on the Nose and Face

Spider veins affect millions of men and women across the globe. Most commonly the unsightly red, blue, and purple veins just below the surface of the skin are seen on the legs, but many individuals will develop them around the nose and cheeks.

There is no other spot on your body that is more visible to others than your face, so we offer VeinWave™, the gentlest, most effective procedure available for the removal of spider veins on the face and nose.  VeinWave™ is a revolutionary way to effectively treat even the tiniest of spider veins with zero recovery time and minimal discomfort. The thermocoagulation technology banishes unsightly spider veins for good.

How Does VeinWave™ Work?

VeinWave™ is a great method for treating super small veins (<0.3mm) that can’t be treated with other methods such as sclerotherapy injections. During your short 10-20 minute procedure, a spider vein specialist from our team will use an electronic device to close problematic veins.

The VeinWave™ treatment uses an ultra-thin insulated needle that emits radiofrequency energy (heat) precisely into the wall of the vein, heating it and causing it to close, and, ultimately, be absorbed.  You will feel a series of slight pin-prick sensations during your minimally-invasive treatment. This procedure is well tolerated by patients.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Although VeinWave™ can be used to treat spider veins anywhere on the body, it’s typically reserved for the treatment of the tiniest veins on the face, nose and sometimes chest. You may be a good candidate if your veins are too small for injection sclerotherapy.

You should be in good general health to receive VeinWave treatments. Treatment is not indicated for patients with a nickel allergy.

What Results Can I Expect?

The best news is that results can be seen immediately following your treatment, with continued noticeable improvements for several days as the treated tiny veins are naturally absorbed into your body.

The  VeinWave™ procedure will eliminate the treated veins, although it is possible that new spider veins can form in time as occurs with all types of vein problems. You won’t experience bruising, scarring, or pigmentation like alternate treatments. Some patients with sensitive skin may notice temporary redness for approximately 2-weeks after their procedure. This is truly a lunchtime procedure, as patients can resume normal activity immediately following the treatment with zero downtime.

Most patients require just 1-2 VeinWave™ treatments.  Dr. Cutchen will be able to assess your needs during your in-person consult.  We have had great success and patient satisfaction using this technology in our Albuquerque vein clinic. Facial and nose spider veins, like all other types of spider and varicose veins, should be evaluated and treated by an experienced, credentialed vein doctor.
