How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

Have your facial features started to lose volume? Dermal fillers can restore lost fullness or add volume to enhance features like the lips. Dermal fillers can improve lines and wrinkles almost anywhere on the face and give your face back its youthful-looking contours.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers add volume to regions of the face to lift lines and wrinkles or restore lost volume in areas like the cheeks. At Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute, we offer the Restylane® family of dermal fillers. This collection has fillers with different viscosities to let them work in almost any facial area.

How Do Dermal Fillers Work?

Most dermal fillers work using a bio-safe material to add volume to the facial features. Restylane® fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a molecule found in your skin that attracts and traps moisture. Different formulations of this material give the formulas their different properties. Treatment can take up to an hour, depending on the treatment area.

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

Dermal fillers last longer in some parts of the face than others. Restylane® dermal fillers can last between six months and a year

Restylane® Kysse

This lip filler adds volume that moves with your lips for smooth, natural-looking enhancement. It usually lasts six to nine months but can last up to a year.

Restylane® Lyft

This filler works for several facial areas, including the cheeks. It has also been approved for use on the hands. It lasts about one year.

Restylane® Defyne

This filler can add contour and profile to the cheeks and chin areas. It can last a year or even more, depending on where it is used.

Restylane® Contour

This filler excels at restoring lost volume and providing a natural-looking enhancement in areas like the cheeks. It can last up to a year.

The longevity of your dermal filler will depend on how your body responds to the filler material. It also depends on the face area where the filler is used.

Is There Any Downtime With Dermal Fillers?

You may notice some bruising or soreness around the injection sites. This will resolve within a few hours to a day. You can go back to normal activities right after your treatment.
