Ambulatory phlebectomy is the term used to describe the procedure whereby bulging veins are removed through small incisions (usually about 1/8 inch)after the skin has been numbed with local anesthetic. These incisions are then closed with only a small tape strip. There is often some bruising afterwards as would be expected, but the leg heals nicely and after about 12 months, the tiny scars are essentially invisible.
At Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute, I customize each patient’s treatment protocol based on their own symptoms, progression of disease and cosmetic goals.
