What is the Best Laser Treatment for Rosacea?

If you struggle with rosacea, you are most likely familiar with the redness, flushing, and other symptoms that can interfere with your daily life. This condition can be frustratingly difficult to treat, with creams and lotions offering temporary or no relief. Laser treatments for rosacea offer lasting results so you can return to enjoying your life without redness and irritation.

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a common skin condition that can affect men and women of any skin tone but most often affects women with lighter skin. It causes symptoms such as redness, flushing, sensitivity, and pimple-like bumps or breakouts. This condition may have a combination of underlying causes, but it often flares and fades in response to environmental, hormonal, and other triggers.

What is the Best Laser Treatment for Rosacea?

The most common treatments for rosacea are topical creams, but these often provide minimal relief and can have unpleasant side effects. Laser treatments are an effective way to treat rosacea and give you clear, even-toned skin.

ClearLift™ Laser

The ClearLift™ laser combines the energy of the non-ablative YAG with the Pixel Q Switch 1064nm to provide gentle skin resurfacing without discomfort or downtime. As one of the most comprehensive non-ablative lasers available, it can treat rosacea, broken blood vessels, and many other skin concerns.

ClearLift™ is often recommended for areas of the face too sensitive for other lasers, including around the eyes and mouth. This property allows it to treat your rosacea symptoms anywhere they occur, even on very sensitive skin.

Dye VL Photofacial

Although not a laser, this treatment taps into the power of light, combining Pulsed Dye laser energy and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) energy to offer a uniquely effective photofacial for addressing redness, pigmentation issues, sun damage, and signs of aging. We recommend this treatment yearly for almost all individuals with light to moderate skin pigmentation over the age of 30 to fight sun damage and pigmentation issues.

This treatment uses several filters to target different skin issues, making it a more intensive and thorough rosacea treatment than ClearLift™, but able to treat different skin concerns.

Is There Any Downtime With Laser Treatment for Rosacea?

These laser treatments for rosacea do not require any downtime. They do not damage the skin, allowing you to return to your usual activities immediately. You may notice minor flushing for a short time after treatment. Both treatments fit into the busiest schedules, although your skin will require sun protection after your session.

How Many Laser Treatments Will I Need for Rosacea?

The number of treatments needed to address your rosacea will vary widely depending on your condition and response to treatment. Most people benefit from a series of treatments, often three to five with the ClearLift(™) or DyeVL to bring their rosacea under control, followed by occasional maintenance treatments to keep symptoms from returning. We may even recommend a combination of both treatments for optimal results.

Dr. Rob Cutchen of Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute treated the varicose veins in my right leg with laser treatment, injections and micro-phlebectomy (tiny incisions to remove bulging veins). I had always assumed that vein treatment would require a pain medication and a long recovery period with little mobility, but I’m happy to say that I was wrong! After a day or two being a little uncomfortable, I was able to resume my daily walks, and my legs now look and feel great!
