Sclerotherapy is a non-surgical spider vein treatment that involves the injection of an FDA-approved solution directly into the spider vein via a tiny needle. The injected solution irritates the lining of the vein, causing it to collapse and then to disappear over time. This treatment is done in your physician’s office and takes roughly 25-30 minutes to complete. Some patients will have larger clusters of spider veins that will need to be treated on more than one occasion to accomplish full fading of the veins. Most patients require a series of 3-5 treatments on average over the course of several months. Our very experienced sclerotherapy nurse will provide you with a detailed spider vein treatment plan that will be fully customized to your individual needs. Spider vein treatment is considered cosmetic and is not covered by insurance.
Laser Vein Therapy
Laser Vein Therapy is a cutting-edge procedure used to eliminate the diseased veins deep within the venous system that causes the visible bulging varicose veins. It uses the heat of a laser to “close” or seal off the diseased vein(s), causing the blood to reroute through the other healthy veins. Your visible bulging varicose veins will disappear over the course of 6-12 months, although Dr. Cutchen may need to perform a second procedure – ambulatory phlebectomy, to physically remove some of the visible ropey veins. Laser vein treatment is an outpatient procedure that is performed under local anesthesia in the convenience of our office. It is typically covered by insurance and has minimal discomfort and downtime, making it one of the most preferred procedures for eliminating varicose veins.
