Fine-lines-&-wrinkles-albuquerque & Santa Fe

Collagen loss and environmental factors can lead to signs of aging on your skin. Fine lines and wrinkles affect almost everyone eventually. Fortunately, you can take steps to prevent or reduce these frustrating lines and regain your firm, youthful look. In many cases, you can achieve the results you want without surgery or long recovery times.

What Causes Fine Lines and Wrinkles?

Several factors contribute to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. Your lines may come from a combination of many causes

  • Collagen loss that leads to skin laxity and loss of elasticity
  • Sun damage that leads to cellular damage
  • Lifestyle choices like smoking or alcohol use
  • Lack of hydration and good nutrition

In addition, genetics play a strong role in the formation of lines and wrinkles. You are likely to develop this issue at a similar age to your family members unless you take steps to avoid it.

Laser Hair Removal Albuquerque & Santa Fe

Few of us enjoy spending time shaving, waxing, or threading our unwanted hair. Laser hair removal provides long-lasting hair removal results. This treatment lets you find better uses for the time and money you used to waste on the tedious task of hair removal.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Most of your skin has hair follicles that grow hairs. In some places, this hair is not welcome. Laser hair removal treats your hair follicles to stop them from growing new hairs. Your hair roots contain melanin, a pigment that absorbs the laser energy as heat. The heat damages the follicle, causing it to shed the hair and stop growing new ones. Your Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute team uses the Harmony® XL Pro laser for safe, effective results.

Acne can be frustrating and cause emotional distress. The acne scars it leaves behind can be a lifelong problem. Erase acne scarring and achieve smooth, even skin with Opus™ Plasma skin resurfacing. This treatment can effectively eliminate these visible reminders of past breakouts.

What Causes Acne Scarring?

Not everyone with acne develops scars as a result. You may develop acne scars for many reasons. Some people have a genetic tendency to form scars when their skin is damaged. Cystic acne forms deep in the skin and often leaves scars, but any type can cause them, especially if you squeeze, pick, or interfere with blemishes. Scarring occurs when the skin is disrupted and repairs itself with scar tissue, which looks different from normal skin.

Do you have small, visible veins on your face or legs? These spider veins are not usually not medically harmful but can bother you aesthetically. Spider veins form for several reasons, and your Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute team has several ways to address them.

Spider Veins 101: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

Many people, especially women, develop spider veins. This common problem results when small veins become stretched and damaged. As a result, they become larger and visible through the skin. Spider veins usually do not represent a medical condition, but they can be annoying and aesthetically displeasing and may indicate an underlying venous circulation problem. While you can take steps to decrease your likelihood of developing spider veins, you cannot always prevent them.

The veins in your legs are under stress as they carry blood against gravity back to your heart. These veins can become damaged, leading to a condition called chronic venous insufficiency. This condition can cause discomfort and other symptoms, making prompt treatment important.

What is Chronic Venous Insufficiency?

As your leg veins move blood, one-way valves keep the flow moving in the right direction. When these valves weaken, blood can pool in the veins, a condition called venous reflux. These damaged varicose veins can contribute to a variety of uncomfortable symptoms. Chronic venous insufficiency does not resolve on its own and requires treatment with a vein specialist such as Dr. Robert Cutchen.

Spider veins are a common cosmetic issue for many people. These small, damaged veins can make you self-conscious about the appearance of your legs. Sclerotherapy offers a way to eliminate spider veins with just a few injections.

What is Sclerotherapy for Spider Veins?

Sclerotherapy is an injectable treatment for spider veins and small varicose veins. It uses a compound called a sclerosant that hardens and damages the vein walls. This damage causes the vein to collapse, stopping blood flow. Blood will easily divert to healthier veins. As the “gold standard” treatment for spider veins, sclerotherapy is safe and widely used.

Your facial skin is exposed to environmental factors, internal aging, and many other factors that can leave it looking dull or uneven. Opus Plasma® uses a unique technology to smooth, tighten, and rejuvenate your skin. This treatment makes an excellent option for those seeking to address a range of skin concerns.

What is Opus Plasma® for Facial Rejuvenation?

Opus Plasma® is an energy-based skin fractional skin treatment. Using plasma energy instead of laser energy, this revolutionary treatment creates tiny areas of micro-damage to the skin. This plasma energy triggers your skin cells to produce new collagen, the protein that gives skin its strength and firmness. Opus Plasma® provides precise control over the depth and intensity of treatment for a customized treatment experience.

If you have varicose veins, they might indicate something more concerning than just an aesthetic problem. Varicose veins can be a sign of problems deep within your venous system and should be assessed by a vein specialist, such as Dr. Robert Cutchen.

What are Varicose Veins?

Varicose veins are visible veins under the skin that often look twisted, bulging, or discolored. The blood in your leg veins must travel upward to return to the heart, and your veins have one-way valves to prevent backflow. When these valves fail, blood can pool in the deep veins and back into smaller ones – a condition known as venous insufficiency. The blood stretches the vein walls, causing the appearance of varicose veins.

Men and women often rate hair removal as one of the worst personal care tasks. It takes time out of your day, and you have to repeat it endlessly. You can put an end to tedious shaving, waxing, or plucking with laser hair removal. This treatment stops hair from growing, so you have effortlessly smooth skin.

What is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal uses pulses of laser energy to deactivate hair follicles. This treatment stops hair growth by targeting melanin, the pigment that gives hair its color. Each active follicle has a hair root inside, and the laser heats the pigments in the hair until the heat shuts down the follicle. At Albuquerque Vein & Laser Institute, we offer Super Hair Removal (SHR) with the Harmony® laser. This laser provides the most comfortable and effective hair removal available.
